Speechworks, PLLC

We specialize in your children!

Speechworks, PLLC is a mobile practice offering speech and language therapy services in the South Tampa area to children ages birth to 18 years of age.

Parents come to us because they or others have difficulty understanding what their child says. Some of these children are frustrated and aware that they sound different from their peers. We give them confidence and increased self- awareness through evidence based practices and individualized support relative to their phonological difference. We see a lot of children who use their body to communicate first, because they do not have the words to communicate verbally instead. We work with the child and all other adults involved in the child’s care to provide naturalistic opportunities to promote and encourage verbal and non verbal communication void of aggression or emotional passivity.

“THANK YOU (again!) for being SO wonderful, in every way, with our child and of course for the amazing video. I watched it, again and again. Seeing her sweet little face and hearing her say (pronounce) her name, so beautifully, for the very FIRST time, brought tears to my eyes. I am SO proud of her too and she is proud of herself, thanks to you.”

—Rebecca J.

“Thank you for EVERYTHING! Suzie and you together are AMAZING!! She has come SO far SO fast, it’s incredible!!”

—Becky P.

“I have been so blown away and pleased with the progress my son has made working with Meg at Speechworks Therapy. She is patient, kind, and organized. She pushes him to work hard and those high-expectations allow for such remarkable growth. Meg makes learning fun - he doesn’t even realize how hard he’s working! He loves his “Ms. Meg days”!

—Lindsey J.

“Thank you for being such a wonderful, joyful teacher to my daughter! You have taught her, guided her and loved her and you are truly a blessing to us all! We will always be grateful for you and the gifts you have given our daughter.”

—Gertrude B.

“I cannot speak highly enough about Speechworks, PLLC, and our experience with G.G. Van Aelst. We had initially thought our son leaned toward shyness, and was less verbal only because he had a very talkative sibling who narrated everything for him. After realizing it was actually a speech delay, and that he struggled with pronunciation, we started him in speech therapy with G.G. What a gift it has been to see his confidence grow as a result of his time with her. G.G. has such an encouraging, enthusiastic, and fun approach; he never views it as “work” and he truly loves and looks forward to each session with her. The improvement in our son’s speech since he first started Speechworks has been amazing, and we are so grateful to G.G. for giving him the ability to get his verbal skills on par with his comprehension, and we love seeing his big personality shine through now in his words. Plus now we have two very talkative narrators at home.”

—Susan

“We have seen a huge improvement in the stuttering since you started working on it. You are honestly a miracle worker and awesome at your job. Thank you.”

—J.R.

When a parent hears their child say a word for the first time or hears their child say a sound correctly and perfectly for the first time, it can be emotionally moving, exciting, inspirational and very encouraging to continue with therapy because the effects are visible. The parents we work with are often amazed how we can tailor their child’s specific goals into everyday or natural ways to practice and further their growth. We help children find their voice and their unique sound.
